We’re excited for you to join us on the journal challenge this year! Please set aside five minutes each day this week to write down your thoughts!
Every year for the last fifteen years, I have written down New Year’s Resolutions, much like thousands of people. In spite of my good intentions, every year, my resolutions become just statements and or goals that I go to from time to time. Can you relate?
I have come to the conclusion that maybe I shouldn’t simply make resolutions. I decided that I needed to evaluate the lessons and victories that I had in 2018 and use them to propel myself forward in 2019. This is my way of not only celebrating myself, but also a way of appreciating the small steps that I have made in my journey. Ultimately, I’ve decided to change my mindset about this journey called life.
Instead of feeling down about eventually letting go of resolutions, I wonder what would happen if more people would stop and appreciate the small wins or growth each month instead of over the course of twelve months? How would our mental health improve if we each took the time to check in with ourselves instead of striving to check things off of a list of resolutions? When was the last time you checked in with yourself?
As a therapist, I know personally that it’s so important to check-in with myself whether it’s by journaling, exercising, talking with a trusted friend or therapist, or reading a good book. Without this time on occasion, I have noticed that my joy and peace take the biggest hit. In order for me to help other people, I have to have my joy and peace in tact. What would happen if you did the same?
This month, at Reach Counseling Solutions, we are doing a Journal Challenge. Please join us as we take out some time for ourselves to celebrate our wins, to evaluate where we’ve been and where we are going! All you need is some to write on, something to write with, and as little as five minutes to take time out for you. Are you up to the challenge?
